Further information

Embark on a sweet journey through Budapest, where grand architecture and Hungarian baking traditions meet on a two-and-a-half-hour walking pastry tour. Starting at the Opera House, discover the treats that make the capital irresistible.Led by a local food expert, this experience includes at least four food stops, with stories connecting each tasting to Budapest’s culinary heritage. Here’s a selection of possible tastings (offerings vary depending on season and availability):

  • Rétes: Discover Hungarian strudel, with delicate pastry enclosing apple, sour cherry, poppy seed, or sweet cottage cheese. Each filling brings a different balance of sweetness and texture.
  • Sweet Lángos: Enjoy a playful take on Hungarian street food: fried flatbread with a crisp exterior, pillowy center, and chocolate-hazelnut topping.
  • Dobos Torte: Savor layers of sponge and chocolate buttercream beneath a crunchy caramel crown—a delightful contrast of smooth, soft, and crisp.
  • Kürtőskalács: Finish with chimney cake, a spiral pastry coated in caramelized sugar, with possible toppings including cinnamon, cocoa, coconut, or walnuts.
  • Coffee: Enjoy coffee alongside the sweet discoveries, with water also included.

Throughout the tour, explore Budapest’s streets, stopping near Parliament before finishing in the city center, discovering how pastry traditions enrich local life.
