Here’s a selection of possible tastings you’ll enjoy along the way (some tastings may vary depending on availability/time of day):
- Kumquat: a symbol of Corfu, this little fruit is used to make liqueurs, sweets, and preserves. Its unique sweet and slightly bitter flavor reflects the island’s distinctive culinary identity.
- Tiropita and Spanakopita: these traditional Greek pies are staples of local cuisine. Tiropita is filled with creamy cheese, while spanakopita combines spinach, feta, and herbs, all wrapped in crispy phyllo pastry.
- Greek Cream Pudding: a hidden gem of the island, a simple produtc that showcases the strenght of the traditional homemade recipes and the quality of the local ingredients.
- Olive Tasting: a taste of different Greek extra virgin olive oils, each with its own distinctive character. From mild and buttery to bold and peppery, you’ll discover the depth of flavor and craftsmanship that have made Greek olives a cornerstone of Mediterranean gastronomy.
- Loukoumedes: a traditional dessert made with fried dough and honey. Its name means “dripping with honey,” perfectly describing its rich and indulgent flavor.
- Pastitsada: one of Corfu’s most iconic dishes, made with slow-cooked meat in a spiced tomato sauce, typically served with pasta. Deeply rooted in Venetian influence.
- Sofrito or Bourdeto: sofrito is a delicate veal dish cooked with garlic, white wine, and parsley, while bourdeto is a bold, spicy fish stew with red pepper. Together, they represent two contrasting sides of Corfiot cuisine.
- Wine or Ouzo: Enjoy a glass of Greek wine, capturing the character, warmth, and tradition of its land, or taste the Ouzo, Greece’s most famous drink, a fiery anise-flavored liqueur made from crushed grape skins and aromatics. Attention, it pucks a punch!
