Embark on an unforgettable street food adventure through the charming streets of Sorrento, where breathtaking coastal views and vibrant gastronomy come together in a journey rich in flavors, culture, and tradition. Led by a passionate local food expert, this walking tour will guide you through the town’s historic center, where you’ll stop at 4 to 5 carefully selected venues to savor the authentic tastes of the Sorrentine Peninsula.

As we wander through Sorrento’s picturesque alleyways, lined with artisan shops and lemon groves, you’ll discover the secrets of traditional Campanian cuisine. Along the way, you’ll taste a variety of local specialties that have been cherished for generations. From freshly prepared savory bites to iconic sweet delights, each stop will reveal a new layer of Sorrento’s culinary heritage, deeply rooted in the Mediterranean lifestyle. Here’s a list of possible tastings:

  • A platter of typical cured meats and cheeses is a traditional Italian appetizer made with a selection of regional specialties. It usually includes different types of cured meats such as prosciutto, salami, and mortadella, together with a variety of cheeses like pecorino, mozzarella, or aged cheeses
  • Gnocchi alla Sorrentina, they are made with soft potato gnocchi baked in a rich tomato sauce with melted mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese. The dish is typically finished with fresh basil and baked in the oven until the cheese becomes creamy and slightly golden, creating a simple but flavorful comfort food.
  • Ravioli alla caprese, these fresh ravioli are filled with a mixture of caciotta cheese and grated Parmesan, often with a touch of marjoram for aroma. They are usually served with a simple tomato sauce and fresh basil, which enhances the delicate flavor of the cheese filling.
  • Frittatina di pasta (or frittata di maccheroni) is a practical and delicious dish born from the tradition of reusing leftover pasta. Mixed with eggs and enriched with cheeses, cured meats, or tomato sauce, it is fried until golden and crispy outside while remaining soft inside.
  • Italian gelato is a traditional frozen dessert known for its smooth texture and intense flavor. Compared to regular ice cream, it contains less air and usually less fat, which makes it denser and creamier. Gelato is made with fresh ingredients such as milk, sugar, and natural flavorings like chocolate, fruit, pistachio, or hazelnut. It is typically served slightly warmer than ice cream, which enhances its rich and authentic taste
  • Limoncello, typical of the Amalfi Coast, is a sweet lemon liqueur made by macerating lemon peels in pure alcohol for several weeks, then blending the infusion with a sugar syrup before filtering and bottling. Bright, fragrant, and refreshing, it is traditionally served chilled as a digestif, perfectly capturing the essence of southern Italy.
